As far as card games go, blackjack is probably the easiest one to play. Since its more of a game of chance than poker is, there really arent that many detailed strategies needed for winning. Still, there are some tips and strategies that blackjack players can go by for increasing their odds somewhat. The great thing about this card game is that players dont need to beat one another. They only need to beat the dealer. Although the house usually has the better odds, a lot of money can be won at blackjack: it just takes a bit of luck and skill.
The premise of blackjack is to try and beat the dealer to 21, without going over. Number cards from 2 10 are all worth their corresponding values, face cards all have a value of 10, and aces can be either 1 or 11, depending on what suits the hand the best. A player can instantly blackjack if his or her first two cards add up to 21. Players always start out with just two cards and if those two cards are a ten and an ace for example, then the player automatically blackjacks and wins.
There are differences in opinion about what number a player should stop at before getting to 21. Some will always stay at 15 and wont request anymore cards. Some will go ahead and ask for a third card. If that third card is anything higher than a six, then the player automatically busts and loses. However, if any of the cards is an ace, circumstances are different. Since an ace can count as either 1 or 11, it can be used to prevent a bust.
Clearly, blackjack isnt that hard to understand. Out of all the different types of card games, this one is probably the easiest to get the hang of. Players just need to learn to think quickly on their feet, since their luck can change with just one card.
